Truck looks good!! Nice work! A few questions if you don't mind:
1) Is that a 64 F250 4x4 original frame with 120" WB?
2) If thats the 292, where did you get the headers..Sanderson??
3) What year is the style side bed you have on it?
Thanks!!!
It is an original 120" wheelbase 4x4 frame. I stretched the wheelbase by moving the rear axle back 7 inches. It has a 64 style side bed on it I put a whole 64 2wd body on the the 4x4 frame. The headers are patriot tight clearances for sure but they fit. Hopefully I answered all your questions and my punctuation is ok.
I gotcha bro, many thanks, finally got an answer I was looking for on the 120 stretch to 127 for the style side bed. She's gonna be sweet when you get here done...I don't really like talking about periods anyway, usually means tough time around the house for 4-7 days...(-: Take care -
Haha yea I hear you on that. If your going with big tires it would probably benefit you to go back an extra inch, I went by my 64 2wd measurements and it put the tire a little close to the bedside. I'm planning on fixing that by having them move the centering pin back on the custom lift springs I'll have made.
Yep, sounds good, understand on the 127 / 128 difference. I just bought my truck and it has no bed, so I am hunting, already found two actually, one short and one long, so just thinking on which way to go. I live on NH / Maine border, so it will be several weeks yet before I get either of the ones found through good peeps on this site. Take care, I'll keep looking in on your progress, I'm on the fence with keeping my truck stock or putting goodies like power steering, power disc brakes, etc. All the best -
Well I was able to get a little time on the truck yesterday. Not much got done but I was able to get the rest of the crossover mocked up. I still need to tie up a few loose ends but it's coming together.
Hi again -
Can you snap a few pics of where you moved your rear spring perches to in order to accommodate the longed? Now that I finally got my truck here and am looking at it, the frame starts to get "smaller" in height just about 5 inches back from where the fwd spring perch is originally mounted. Anyway, if you have a few pics, mucho appreciated....
Ill see what I can do to get some pictures Its kind of hard to see with the bed on but maybe I can help
Thanks, I can take some pics of mine and show you what I mean. Also note that the stock location of the spring perches equal same place cross members are installed from factory. I am assuming this has to do with strength. Did you move cross members back as well?
What kind of rod ends did you use on your crossover? Got any more pics to show how you did the passenger side steering arm mounting of linkage? This truck will be awesome with these upgrades I was going to do the same to my 64 4x4 but sold the rolling frame instead.
I used Dodge 1 ton tie rod ends part number es2010l and es2010r. The passenger knuckle had to be machined and a high steer arm added. As far as the crossmember goes I'm still going to have to deal with that, I'm putting the fast tank behind the axle so the crossmember has to be moved no matter. I'll let you know what I come up with.
So I made a mistake telling you 7 inches I only moved it 6 because of the kickup in the frame it's been a while since I finished it.I'm trying to get the pictures loaded but it's not working.you can always move it back a little extra with a zero rate block
You can probably see from the picture I also had to move the hanger up about 3/8 to work with the frame it really won't make a difference on my truck seeing as though it will be lifted hopefully this helps you a little

OK man, thanks for the pics. I may be nuts but I think I may go the same route as tin man and cut / re-weld my bed, leaving the drive train and axle / frame all original...not like I'm jumping out in the snow and ice right now to work on it, so I'll keep pondering...lol. Thanks!
Awesome well good luck with that your braver than I. I took the easy route only bad part is it's going to need a new driveshaft but that's part of lifting a truck anyway. Keep us posted on how the bed comes along
