I thought I'd come over to this forum to see if I could get some help with my cruise control. I pulled a cruise system from a carburated 80's Ford truck for use in my 67 Ranger. I believe it was an 84 or 85 truck. Anyway, I have all the electrical and vaccuum figured out (I think) and hooked up. However, I'm not sure how the cruise hooks to the accelerator. The end consists of a ball type cable that I assume hooks in some fashion to the throttle lever. What I need to know is how it attaches. Also, is there alot of slack when the cruise is disengaged?
A picture of the connection on a carburated truck would be really helpful if someone has one.
Thanks for the help!
I have a picture of mine if you want to give me your e-mail address, I can mail it to you. It's on an 82 F250, but my speedo is broke, so therefore my cruise is inoperable. I'm going with an electonic after market speedo and cruise in the near future. Hopefully before I get pulled over for speeding!!!...lol
It takes a plastic linkage sleeved connector that clips onto the very end of the linkage where it attaches to the throttle lever.
The ball type chain slips through this connector and a cotter pin keeps it in place. The chain when attached should have very little slop in it.
Thanks guys!
Steve's pics show in great detail exactly what Mil1ion described. Of course my throttle is rod actuated rather than cable driven but I should be able to rig something now.
Thanks again!
