Spraying Antifreeze

Hello everyone,

First thank you for all your previous assistance and advice. It seems I am only on here when I have an issue. Really appreciate everyone! THANKS!!

I noticed an antifreeze leak yesterday and could not tell where, so this AM I got it up to operating temp and turned on the heater.

Noticed nothing seemed to be leaking and yet the board I laid under the front end was getting small droplets on it. Probably from previous leaking.

Really not sure where to go from here. Not able to see where it is leaking and when it starts leaking and engine running there, I think, will be a spraying issue.

Really could use some advice....

Thanks

I am below the min line on the overflow and when I noticed it yesterday there was a large coffee can lid puddle size...

I think I going to take it in to the shop tomorrow afternoon....

I have a 6.0 and have had two separate leaks on my truck. I am not sure if they would be the same on yours but it might be something to look at. In both cases, I really didn't see a puddle, but I could smell the coolant when the truck was hot.

The first time, it was a heater hose on the back passenger side of the engine, right along the firewall. The hose was leaking right at a Y and really wasn't noticeable at all until my mechanic pressurized the system. Pretty easy and cheap fix. I should say that this leak completely drained my coolant tank and caused a check engine light, needless to say, I check my coolant level at least every other week now just in case.

The second time, it was the radiator. I actually just swapped out my radiator yesterday. I am not sure how the radiator is designed on the 7.3, but on the 6.0 we have plastic tanks on the top and the bottom of the radiator that are held on by a long set of metal clamps. I guess over time the metal had worked a hole in the plastic. One day I started smelling coolant but the leak was only slightly noticeable. Within two weeks, it was to a point I know longer wanted to drive the truck. 1 hour and a $240 all aluminum radiator and I am good to go again.

This is how bad the leak got before I changed it out. When it started, there was no residue anywhere except for around the clamps.

Good luck, hope this helps.
