Hoping someone can give me a place to start. Ford F350 dually 7.3 diesel. standard trans no modifications. When I hit a constant speed it sounds like a sucking sound coming from passenger side (could be center) until I romp on the go pedal then it goes away until I get back to a constant speed again. doesn't do it when idling only when traveling. Any ideas where to start?
It absolutely does sound like the EBPV. This is completely normal. The engine uses the valve to help warm itself up until about 130* Engine oil temp in my truck.
Are you sure it doesn't make the noise at idle? It should.. And can sound like a jet turbine at the back of the truck depending on what exhaust you're running. I have a 4" turbo-back with no muffler and you can hear it when you enter my neighborhood.
You guys were right, I had to pay attention when it got warmed up. Guess I only pay attention when I first start out. Thanks for clearing that up for me. It doesn't do it at an idle though. how do you check to see if its working properly?
Does anybody have an opinion on a sucking sound coming from the driver side (maybe the 6637 air filter?) when loaded, torque converter locked and towing a load up a grade? The sound goes away when the torque convertor is unlocked. I don't hear it any other time. I did replace the Ex Back pressure sensor and tube. Is this a normal sound with a 6637? The truck is a 99.5.
