I've got a 97 Mountaineer with JBL in which the sub has blown, and I'm looking for a quality replacement for it. This is the second sub that has died on me in the last 6 months due to a stressed connection between the cone of the speaker and the connector of the speaker. I'm not sure that I want to buy the same speaker and have the same thing happen to the new one, so what would you all suggest I put in its place that will put out some good sound? I'm still using the factory-installed amp, so please keep this in mind when making suggestions so as to not blow the amp. Thanks!
with the factory amp you would not beable to push even a solo baric 8. you might beable to push a kicker comp 10. i would get an aftermarket amp with your new subs.
Almost sounds as if was a defect in the sub. The stock sub set up isnt that great to begin with. With that said, being your truck is a 97 I would look into a stealth sub box and put an amp to it. In total you will most likely be out $350-$400 but you'll be happy.
