rebuilding zf5 and 460

Hello everyone, I recently bought a truck to rebuild its a 1996 f350 with a 460 and 5 speed manual. I was going to rebuild the motor and transmission and was wondering what you guys thought was the best manual for either one or if there is one that covers both. Thank you

Welcome to the board, be sure to post a pic of your truck...which sounds a lot like mine!

I purchased the current Chilton version, which is about useless. Oh, I guess it has the basics in it, but if I was going for a rebuild I'd definitely look for more detail. I've always liked Tom Monroe's books on engine rebuilds:

How to Rebuild Your Ford V-8 351 C-351m-400-429-460: Tom Monroe: 9780895860361: Amazon.com: Books How to Rebuild Your Ford V-8 351 C-351m-400-429-460: Tom Monroe: 9780895860361: Amazon.com: Books

But being from the 80's they are a bit dated and won't cover any of the electronics.

I'm sure someone here will have good suggestions.

Good luck with your project...you found a great place for help.

If you do rebuild the ZF5 PLEASE do a thread on it. I myself want to learn how to rebuilt them. I am hoping the junk yards will have some this summer. I need one for my 7.3 and a spare for the 7.5 couldn't hurt.
