NP205 Seal Questions
I have a blown real seal for the rear driveshaft.. made a mess. am I correct that the timkin 473204 is the correct seal? the truck is far away from a auto shop.
I pulled the front yolk and its not leaking, should I replace it anyway? (I think timkin 473457)
also I noticed that the selector shaft appears to be leaking.. from a little google (NP205 Rebuild Guide) it looks like I need to do a lot of teardown to replace this Selector shaft seal. is that correct? I dont have the ability to remove the tranfercase from the truck. Can I pull a access cover and tap it out and replace it with good luck? or is there another trick I can do for this lower stress seal?
thanks so much for the help in advance. -Spud

What is the diameter of your yoke?
Outside diameter of seal is most likely 3.066", measure to verify. The National part you referenced is OD is 2.754 for a NP203, probably not the one you want.
Inside diameter depends on the yoke or flange. Measure the outside diameter of the yoke, if original it is most likely 2.125", could also be 1.875" though.
Regardless, use your measurements to verify you have the correct seal and you can't go wrong. The yokes could have been swapped through the years so you really don't know which one is right without measuring.
