I have a problem that I don't understand. I have an '02 7.3 with 250,000 miles on it, the last 2 times I have done an oil change, after I run the truck a little bit , it shows WAY overfull ( 3# coffee can overfull) I drained it out last time, then after a bit, it showed low, so I put oil back in, this was about a week of driving. this last time I changed oil, left house, everything fine, had to hit passing gear, then yellow check engine lite came on, checked oil, way overfull. This is my second 7.3 and I have never had this problem, its almost like it needs to burp. ANY IDEAS thanks
oil does not seem to be diluted down, or have off smell. I drained it down last time to the "full mark" then after awhile the oil level was low, so I added the oil back that I had drained out, and that was the right amount to put it back on "full mark ". I forgot to mention that when check engine light came on, when I stopped , light went off and has not come on again. thanks
X3 on fuel dilution. Your "making oil". On a diesel thats a tell-tail sign of fuel leaking into the crankcase from something, likely injector cups. If it runs fine that can rule out dribbling injectors. If its not running fine start there. Get to it quick as your washing down your rings and bearings.
Thanks for the info, not really what I wanted to hear, but that's my luck.
Truck runs good, so I guess I can omit injectors. Is there anyway I can check things , to rule stuff out. Thanks for the info & quick reply
