1994 F250 7.3L idi turbo code scanner?

I have a 1994 f250 7.3l idi turbocharged,international/navistar engine, with E40D transmission.Does anyone know what is a good code scanner that I can purchase for this vehicle.I was looking at the innova 1040b code scanner but found out from the companies website tech support that this scanner doesn't work on my model truck.

well the engine is old school of course (either of the '94 idi version of the engine.the n/a or turbo engine.not to be confused with the DI/powerstroke latter in the same year) she isn't run by a computer and has no sensors to send to a computer/scan port.

the E40D is run by a devoted control unit in the truck though, and to pull the codes for the trans, you simply need the old EEC-IV/OBD1 scanner.
here for example:
INNOVA 3145 Ford Digital Code Reader : Amazon.com : Automotive INNOVA 3145 Ford Digital Code Reader : Amazon.com : Automotive

don't forget for KOEO scanning with the idi,to hold WOT or you'll get false FIPL(TPS) code 23.

is the OD cancel switch light currently flashing,or are you just preparing yourself with the proper tools?

yes the overdrive switch is flashing and my son is building his tool collection.we looked at the code reader you refer to but inless I am mistaken that code reader will not clear the code fault it will only read them.

to clear the codes, you simply remove the negative battery terminal for a couple mins or better yet, resolve the issue and the code will clear on it's own when you start the truck and go for a drive again.

yeah no problem.iv had the good old flashing od light (codes set) a few times now for one thing or another and the flashing light has always gone off on it's own when i resolved the problem.not once have i had to clear it.in fact whenever i have cleared the code to try it,it's always meant it was coming back lol.so i think it's fair to say,if she doesn't stop flashing when you start the truck, clearing the code will just be a temp solution.i don't know this to be fact with how these control units work, but it's just always been the case with mine so far.
