Very true Dutch. With mine it was almost as easy to grow as spuds. And
hard to harm it any with just a little care. Fertile soil and water and it
would thrive. Don't water it and it would go almost dormant.
Ad water and it would take right off again.

Agreed. I water my aloe about once a week...often less. I have pretty good success with them. Almost as much as crab grass.

My wife drowned my aloe. It was doing just fine with me watering it every 2 weeks. Lisa watered it everyday like the rest of my houseplants. I caught it too late.My wife has a black thumb. I had a house full of plants when we met. She got everyone of them. I think she can kill a plastic plant.LOL

I finally got some tobacco sprouts, and sure enough this is going on just as I'm converting over to E-Cigs for the healthier aspects.

But they are very lush beautiful plants anyway, from what I have seen.

I have a bunch of Cilantro coming up now - and am selecting a few choice sprouts of different things to keep indoors in a controlled environment.

The tobacco should be entertaining if nothing else. They become very tall and leafy from what I have seen, and almost resemble tropical plants.

AND!!!

It looks like this year I just may get some lemons on my front porch!!!

Fresh lemons are GREAT! My late aunt in Florida had a lemon tree and a lime tree on her back patio.

I should begin thinking out how to get a waterline around the house to the back deck.

It was an oversight by the house builders and planners that it has only one hose tap next to the front door.

It's on a slab, so temporarily I may just hang an extra hose by hooks under the eves to run around back.

Have you thought about water barrels? I have 2 of them, and they are quite helpful in cutting the water bills.

There are only two problems I see with that. MOSQUITOS, and where to get the barrels...

I've thought many times about setting up some kind of reservoir filled by my rain gutters. Possibly running lines undergound to (a) small cistern(s) next to the garden(s).

But I don't need any more skeeters than there already are around here.

On another note, I have a lot of bulbs sprouting up now, and just added around thirty new ones.

To keep down skeeters , barrels need to be properly plumbed , vented , and capped . Water comes in top , proper vent , proper cover , water out the bottom by a valve .

Those are perfectly safe, no poisons that come along with cigarette companies, be it on the plant as it grows, or during processing, my great grandfather would tell you that, he raised tobacco, carried leaves in his pocket, either make a cigarette, put in a pipe, or chew it, he was about 94 when he died.

If I do nothing else with them, I will keep some dried leaves and flowers to give to Native Americans.

Tobacco plays a significant part in many of their ceremonies, and if I have true plant matter that is not adulterated in any way it would be a good gift.

I will also collect seeds from it.

Edgar Cayce said that tobacco in moderation is harmless, and his advice on such matters has often proven flawless.

* But I don't think he foresaw what the tobacco industry would do - nobody asked him about it.

Edgar Cayce Foundation

I've posted about this before - it is not a new religion or a cult. It bugs me when I get slammed for suggesting a "TIN FOIL HAT" site.

I will tell you exactly what they do: Take it with a grain of SAND. If you don't think it is worth your time, that's your choice. If parts of it are way too much to accept - DON'T ACCEPT THAT!

But it does present some interesting ideas

Take away what is useful to you personally, and discard the rest.

But I can't really explain who Edgar Cayce was, without showing you that.

WHY should I attempt to re-write what has been said there in my own words when it has been many years that they have refined exactly who he was and his story THERE?

Go look, or don't.

Up to you...

*You will also find a "take it or not" attitude about the whole thing at that site

People are people
UBU - IBI

~ I don't often post about that anymore, because I have been flamed so many times.

But it is true that you get what you want to from it. And sometimes it takes years for the whole thing to come into perspective.

(?)

This is the garden thread - I dunno why I went off on that tangent...

I use "Water Dunks" to help with mosquitoes in my water barrels...it kills them when they are in the larvae stage, so it is quite effective.

It has been HOT the past few days (way too early for this heat) and my air in the house died. I'm hoping it's something minor (I'm an eternal optimist). They come this afternoon to pronounce a prognosis....

Hope everyone has a GREAT Tuesday.

(You can send donations for my "Beat The Heat" new air conditioner fund to me any time you find yourself with a few thousand spare dollars.)
