The disributor moves which way?

I need to bump the initial timing back. Which way do I move the distributor to retard the timing?

Counter-clockwise.

edit: don't forget to disconnect the SPOUT connector first.

The rotor spins clockwise in a 300, so wouldn't you have to turn it clockwise to retard it?

Jakeh is correct. Since to rotor spins CW, in order to get the spark at a retarded moment (fire later) turn the dizzy in the same direction: CW. Turning it CCW causes the spark to occur earlier, therfore advancing the spark to an earlier moment in relationship to the piston.
