F150 or Ranger

Hi all! Since I value all your opinions/advice, we are looking at getting another vehicle since my youngest is about to get his license. Looking at either an F150 or Ranger, 4x4. Won't need to pull anything, just a vehicle for the kid and something with a bed for when I need to haul something I don't want in the back if the X. I keep leaning Ranger, but seems like you get more for your $$ with F150. What do you guys/gals think?

How tall is your son? Im 6'4 and my dad used to have an 04 ranger and it was awful. Even when i was younger and shorter and learning to drive it was terribly uncomfortable

With that said, i used to drive an 05 extended cab F150 at work and it was very comfortable

Which one is best in a wreck?

I vote F150

Oldest son is 5' 10" and youngest one is 6'2". Both will probably use it at different times and they both currently drive a 99 Tracer and love it.

That was my first thought also, but both boys like the idea of the smaller, more nimble Ranger. Although, both DO like driving my Father-in-laws Ram 1500 4x4.

I've had both and loved both (80's and 90's models) Personally the "slower" more sluggish f-150 would probably be better. My 98 ranger I had last was a blast to drive and once I lowered it it zipped through traffic nice in Dallas Now that I'm older and slightly wiser I would never go that route again

the rangers are great for what they are..a compact truck but over priced (atleast here) for what you get. personally if it was me i'd got with a 97-03 f-150 but i know rust is an issue in your area so it may be hard to find a good one. they drive like cars and have plenty of room, pretty easy to spot the known issues with them also.

Yea, the Rangers are overpriced here too. I could get a lot more for the $$ getting an Explorer or Escape, but we already have the X and Jeep, so a pick up would fill the void better. Maybe I should just get another Escort/Tracer!

i was going to suggest a explorer, but since you need a bed it would not help much..you do get alot more for your money.

here you can get a pretty decent 97-00 f-150 for 4-5k but i'm not sure what your budget is or how the f-150s there look.
