A few things on my mind....

I've been researching the excursion 6.0 and have been looking at the pros and cons of ownership. My wife is against the excursion because she says it's TOO big and it may require to much up keep!! I feel the excursion is just a bad *** SUV!! I have never been in one and don't know much about the 6.0!!! I was wondering has anyone's wife or husband give you problems or give reasons not to buy a excursion. Thank you.....

My wife kinda stated looking at the Xcursion like a big vehicle that we really don't need any more and we started looking at smaller 9 passenger vehicles. We have had the X for 5 years now, and that is the longest time we have had any particular vehicle and we have enjoyed it. We bought our 11 Expy in November and my wife was pushing me to sell the Xcursion even harder, and when I made the Expy 9 passenger the push was even greater.

About 2 weeks ago I was in the Expy at work and she used the Xcursion to run into town. When I came home from work the first thing she tells me is, "we are not selling the Xcursion. It drives like a tank".

I suggest you find one, be it what ever engine and take it for a test drive. Do that with a grain of salt tho. While most end up getting one with steering wonder, or this and that "as most that are driving well are not sold often", it will at least get you into the feel of one. They are REALY not as bad as most perceive.
The best thing that I have found is the wealth of info on here to pin down what needs tweaking and the tried and tested ways to get it done. Then you have a solid drivable vehicle to use for what ever you can imagine. Hopefully that makes sense.

My wife loves our Excursion. She says it is one badass Truck. She tells me to never sell it. It is big and you have to get use to driving it. They do use alot more fuel than any average car though. If you want a big vehicle that can pull anything than the Excursion is it.

Its a love/hate relationship with our excursion! She loves it when we go on trips, hates it with all the modding madness that captured me...

Mine hated it till the heated seats warmed her bum, she was also amazed by how well it goes in the snow. And the DVD for the kids makes those long rides nice and quiet! Just buy it! Better to ask forgiveness than for permission!

We live in a small town and I'm always amazed at how many Excursions are still on the road !, but I'm more amazed that the vast majority that I see are driven by women !!! ):

My wife loves to drive my X. The only time she complains is when parking at places like Target. Then she comes out and doesn't have to search to find it, so she's all better!

with a stock Ex you "should" be able to fit into most parking garages, i say should because it seems the min. height is different all over the country.

i've lifted my Ex 2.5"/2" and i can fit in 7'6" garages with some room to spare. I have one local garage i cant make it in but the rest and the airport are all good!

I have owned 3 excursions in total, they are amazing trucks and serve a huge number of purpose's (think of it as a Swiss army knife). I sold my first one, regretted it and had to have another, it was totaled and i got another...i will never be Excursionless again...good lord willing.

Good luck with the search, I would say go over your needs before deciding on an engine though.

My wife already had an Expedition, so it was not too big of an adjustment. I think that has helped her a lot. Otherwise, the only thing she talked me out of was a Diesel engine (she wasn't familiar with them and wasn't interested in becoming familiar, so....you pick your battles).

I would really encourage you to go drive one or two before actually deciding to get one. You need to feel what they ride like. Hopefully there's more than a couple for sale in your area. There are things that can be done to smooth it out, but at the end of the day it is still a Heavy Duty truck.

Other than that, I wholeheartedly recommend getting one. I love mine and so do most of the people on here. We may be biased towards them, but setting that aside for a moment .....look at how much we drive and use them. These beasts have a lot to offer and the people in this group will help you get the most out of yours too.

Good luck, and feel free to ask our collective opinion of any rigs you're seriously considering and we can give you some feedback.

Take care,
Karl

My '01 wouldn't fit in parking garages becuase I lifted 6 inches and it was 2 inches to high to get in easily without damaging something.

My stock height, 4wd '05 fits in the same parking garage at work my '01 wouldn't fit into.

What they both said!!!!!^^^^^^

Mine kept bitching at me telling me I needed to buy another truck even though I loved my 7.3 Excursion with 390K on it. (I had to replace the waterpump, fan clutch, and reseal the harmonic balancer, wasn't a big deal to me, but that was apparently the straw that broke the camel's back) She said she didn't care what it was, I just needed a newer truck. Not that I was going to listen to her, but I figured I've worked hard and I've earned the truck I've always wanted. So what did I do? I went out and bought myself a 2005 Excursion.

Her and her mother bitched, moaned, and complained saying I should've bought something newer than that (they did say buy something newer, but they were expecting a new Super Duty or F150), but I bought what I wanted and they needed to "shut the front door" before it got cold. (if you get my drift) She had a chip on her shoulder the entire time (and wouldn't admit it) becuase I didn't buy a brand new truck. Regardless of her feelings, I drive my new-to-me 6.0 Excursion with a huge BSEG I tell her I'm headed to the store then all of a sudden, she wants to go, finds the power, heated seat and learns to like MY truck.

The moral of the story: She'll say it's too big and this and that and run her mouth about it, but when she sits in it and rides in it, she'll understand.

That's funny!! She's says almost the same thing!! It's a older SUV, it doesn't have all the new things they offer today!! I don't mind not having cold seats ect ..... I just found two 4x4 05 ltd in Miami with 133k for $23k and the other 115k for $20k. Both are black and look real clean. Firstleasingauto.com. I can't run the vin# but would these be a good choice ? Thank you

Take a closer look at this truck: http://www.firstleasingauto.com/2005...-33155/4719904

This truck is virtually identical to the other truck with less miles, but has a key feature that the other one doesn't: 4 wheel drive.

Coming from someone who drove a 2wd Excursion for 12 years, I can tell you that you'd much rather have 4wd and not need it, than need 4wd and not have it. My Experience summer 2012 was a prime example of this...

I went to the beach to go fishing with a buddy and his 4wd '07 F350. I figured since I was lifted and had BFG All-terrains on, I should be able to get through the sand no problem. This was true to a point...

There were a few times I got close to getting stuck, but made it through with a little finagling. That was until I decided to go off and explore the beach a little, then this happened:

When things like this happen, you'll learn how friendly Chevy and Dodge owners are. They'll offer to come pull you out, cameras in hand...

Fortunately for me, my buddy noticed I was gone for too long and came looking for me. Not a moment too soon either because the Chevy boys were ready for their photo op.

The Lesson here: If I had 4wd, that would've never happened....
