installing the Diamond Eye duals...!@$#@$#
Last night I tried to finish the process. I got everything bolted up into place to the Y pipe. What the hell is with the "slip joint"? Is it really needed? Seems to just be a place that resembles an exhaust leak to me. My old system didn't have one.
The other thing is, those of you that have this system, or possibly a different brand dual set up. What is the trick to getting the two pipes over the axle installed correctly? I followed the directions (which were the WRONG ones, and of course they aren't open today!) to as much of a "T" as possible. After fighting it for hours last night, I finally gave up the ghost at the "Y". Had resolved to taking it to a local shop today to have them finish it out...but after talking to them, they wanted 110/hr and said it would take probably three hours. Well, for what is left to do, I'm not down for that....yet.
Anyway, just looking to see if any of you that have installed these, figured out the gotchas and could pass it along.
Thanks.
I haven't tried to go crazy cutting and welding and all, because if it wouldn't fit, I don't want to own $400 worth of scrap tubing. So I took it to a professional installer today to see what it would cost to get finished. A reputable exhaust shop...and they told me it wouldn't fit. Sent me home packin.
So I call The Power Shop, where I bought it from. Ol' Mike was shocked that I was having problems. But when I told him that I would try and cut it up and make it work as long as he agreed that if in the end it didn't, again, I wasn't stuck with scrap. He told me to hold off. He's going to get me some pictures of how it should lay out. So he's trying really hard to do right by me. Kudos there on customer service.
So for the time being, I've got a single 4" exhaust with a split tip. lol....
But I'm starting to get pissy...
