Drivers Sde Turn Signal Problems
RATS (the scourge of the Earth). They attacked my marker lights especially on the driver side. Got the rewiring done but my driver side blinkers are very slow, like 2 second blinks instead of the 1 second blinks. Also when i turn my lights on the blinker wont blink sometimes the blinker will come on and stay on. Anyone have any suggestions? Could it be the wire I used it is a bit bigger. I normally wouldnt be too concerned with it but ive never heard of a cop believing someone who says their blinkers dont work
.
Anyway, it isn't that you used larger wire as that won't cause a problem. It sounds like one of your connections is bad to one of the bulbs. Or, you have a bad ground or a bad bulb. The original blinker units in these trucks worked by the current through them going to the bulbs heating up a bi-metallic strip that opened the circuit when it got hot enough. That turned the bulbs off and the strip cooled, eventually turning the bulbs on and starting the cycle all over. But if one bulb is out the reduced current would cause it to take a long time to open the circuit, so the blinkers went slowly. So, if you have a bulb out, whether the bulb is bad or your connection to it is bad, that would explain the slow blinking. And, if you pull the headlights on that drops the voltage in the system such that slow blinking may become no blinking.
