72 on 78 4x4 frame

72 on 78 4x4 frame

I've read here that you can put a 72 cab on a later frame. I have a 78 F250 4x4 and a 72 F250 Camper Special 4x2. I have a few questions. The first is that I have read that the bed does not line up on the frame and there is a gap between the cab and bed with the 72 parts on the 78 frame, how big is the gap? The second question involves the 78 frame, did the width of the frame change in 77 1/2 on the 4x4? Should I use an earlier frame for this conversion?
Will there be problems using the 78 frame? I would like to use the 78 frame, since already has a Dana 60 front.

72 on 78 4x4 frame

The 73-9 F100 and 150's and 4x2 250's and 350's have a wider frame. 73-77.5 4x4 F250's (high boy's) had the same narrow frame as a 67-72 truck. Your 78 won't work.
