Throwout bearing replacement

forgive me if this has been asked before.

Do I HAVE to take the transmission out to Replace the Throw out Bearing?

PLEASE PLEASE oh god of transmissions tell me I don't . LOL its frikken cold here in the winter and I only have the ground to work on lol

Not if you pull the motor instead....sorry. Might as well change the clutch and pressure plate since you are right in there.

Get some card board to lay on.

Jesus by your trying to kill me aren't ya.
It isn't so much the ground but the fact that the winds are cold and the paws freeze.
PS do you think it is easier to pull the engine though?

I think it would be less work to pull the trans. Try to set up some sort of wind break and throw a kerosene heater under truck to warm up those paws.

I just wait till it warms up here. Colorado is unique in the way where one week it can be in the teens all week and then we'll have like 4 days of 50+ degree temps. I try to sneak in any work I do during the winter during those times!

All depends on 2wd or 4wd as far as a trans pull.

I would rather pull a motor, than drop a 4 spd and NP 205 xfer case together. All the weight is a PITA to get lined back up even with alignment dowel's.

ME and a fellow FTE'er can pull a motor in maybe 30 min or less if we are in a hurry, yes its that easy IMO.

I'd rather leave the xfer case and trans bolted right in place.

Are you a FTE NS Canada chapter member? Hit up the chapter for a spot to work inside and maybe a hand.

Yea I lived in the Springs for 2 1/2 years, love ol Stage Coach Road run. Yes CRAZY weather there.
