It's easy. Kroil penetrating oil and a gear wrench for the top of the front shocks, then regular sockets for the other 6 fasteners. I do the tops of the fronts first, then the bottom of the fronts so I can be underneath when I lower them out and not trying to hold them up for the last bit of the top shock nut.
One hour AND one six pack, because it's the perfect excuse.
I'm at stock 4WD height, so it's not terribly low to the ground. So, do you need to jack the front and remove a tire or can you just cut the wheel and get them out with the wheels on the ground?
I don't recall removing anything to change the shocks out, or lifting the truck. But I'm relatively compact and can slide underneath the front axle while on a creeper, so if you have trouble fitting underneath or crawling on the ground it might be better to pull a wheel. But it's not required to, it should work without removing anything.
Just crawl under there and do it. You don't even have to lift up the truck or put it up on ramps. A ratcheting wrench works well for the front upper nuts.
Yea no need for a lift or anything...the shocks dont support any weight. Unbolt old ones, re bolt in new ones. Should be 5-10 mins tops per shock, definitely not a 6 pack job but you can make changing windshield wipers a 6 pack job too
I might have noticed......but then again I might have changed out my wife's windshield wipers today and have already utilized the requisite consumable tools It's the damn nice 70* weather we're having here that makes going into the garage so enjoyable! Even if her stupid Jeep has three sizes of wiper blades that I'm too stupid to measure before I headed to Wal Mart for my parts and supplies.
