Ok. I'm probably being a little too paranoid considering my truck seems to idle fine and run fine. NO stutters or lopy idle. It seems to start ok even if it's in the low 30's. Does even better now that I have two new batteries but still smokes a little. GPR measured 10.7 on.
The only thing I notice is the engine and truck as a whole, seems to shake right along with the idle. It almost bounces. Seems to get a little worse when it's warm but I can't tell for sure. I can sight a fixed object over the dash and physically see about a 1/8" of bounce to this beast. As I said, rpm's seem very stable even right at start up.
Only other weird thing I noticed is yesterday after sitting for 3 days, I fired her up and the voltmeter was bouncing a little and settled out after about a minute. I think that is unrelated and best I could read on here is that isn't really anything to worry much about.
what about the shake shake? This is my first pstroke and it might just be the beast within! If so, I'm cool with that.
The idle of my truck will rock me right to sleep if i let it haha. Is it acting different than it used to or some thing? The fluttering volt gauge for the first min after start up is prob just the glow plugs working. Also when you check voltage on the glow plug relay, make sure you check the volts coming in and volts going out.
I was womdering that myself. I found one video where a guy said it should be the same as incoming voltage but a bunch of searching yielded that it should be at least above 10V. I tend to think it should be a closer too so that make me feel good that you think so too. I'd be curious to what a few others think too.
I haven't tested mine but I do keep an extra in the glove box. I bought one of those Western snow plow relays for when the current one gives way. If your truck starts ok now, I wouldn't change it but I would sure have one in my glove box.
As for shaking, I've not done the fixed object test, but mine rumbles pretty good. I think it is just the nature of the beast.
