I have a 95 f-150 with a 302 and a mazda 5 speed overdive transmission. I wanted to know what the ratios are in each of the gears. I am planning on swapping in a heavy duty tranmission, like the richmond five speed transmission, will that fit. or ais there another heavy duty tranmission i can swap in thanks.
Do you still want OD? If you don't you can pick from a much bigger list. The NP235 comes to mind. If you need OD the ZF is an obvious good choice. Also, if your not afraid of doing some custom work and have a healthy pocket book that doens't mind being drained a NP5600 swap would be killer. They are a 6 speed that has a torque rating of around 600 lb/ft and are one of the stoutest trannies available. Just make sure you have room, They are over 25" long if I remember right and weigh in at 360lbs. They come in dodge trucks behind the V10 and 5.9 cummins but there is a belhousing adapter for the fords that are out. There is an article on the swap into an older 1 ton ford and I think its in the may issue of "petersons 4 wheel and off road". This sounds like alot of work though. Anyone know about the trannies they use in today's superduties? There is the 5 and 6 speed. Im wondering if that just might be the NP4500 and 5600.
They're both ZFs. I haven't found ratio information on the 6 yet, but it's a heavy duty monster including it's own tranny cooler, just like on a slushbox.
