I am seriously looking at buying a 92-96 F150. I know that the 73-79 Ford Trucks were the best most everyone will agree. My dad is a diehard Ford man but he says Ford never really put out a quality pickup since '79 until the current trucks. I happen to believe that the 92-96 trucks were the last real Fords. They were the last ones with I-beam suspension, the last ones with pushrod V-8s, the last ones with 15'' wheels, the last ones with all that pretty chrome, and the last ones with the pull out headlight switch(a Ford classic). I need someone else's opinion on the quality of the 92-96 Ford Trucks.

I have to agree. The only major flaw in my '94 is the E4OD transmission. I like the boxy look of the '80-'96 models and the '92-'96 dash is the cleanest design of all. The newer models are too "car like" for my taste. The main selling point for me was the all-mechanical 4x4 system. The newer Fords, as well as GM and Dodge only offer an electric system.

I'd go for a 92-96, you gave plenty of reasons yourself. Plus, it's going to be a lot harder to find a 73-79 in as good condition that's the way you want it. Although I do like the Super Duty, something just isn't the same about the 97+ trucks.

I agree that the '78 & '79 were the best ford ever built. but the 92-96 are a close second. I especially like the extra Powered options that were not availible stock in the 70's (ie. windows, locks, etc.) The only down fall is the transmission, and the indepedant suspention on the 4X4 models.

I own a 1985 F150 4x4 now but I did own a 1993 F150 4x4 only a few years ago and I can honestly say that the 1993 was the best damm truck I have ever owned. I used it extensively in the bush up north for hunting and fishing and as far as four wheeling was concerned it would take on any GM for that. I was making my own roads some days up there in lots of snow and mud. If I had the money I would own another.
