checking dealer work


so I had this pinion seal done by the dealer that I bought the truck from and got it done on the cheap im double checking there work and was wondering if this looks fine or not im concerned because of the pinion flange gap and I never done a pinion seal before so I don't know what its suppose to look like anybodys help would be great thanks
im talking about the tan color flange that meets up with the orange seal is it suppose to have a gap there I did measure it and it is maybe 1mm or a little less

That 'flange' is a seal protector, keeps sticks and stones from striking the seal and damaging it.

Looks fine to me.

ok good yeah no leaks no noise no vibrations just looked like it wasn't on all the way. so I was seeking a extra opinion on this pinion flange not being all the way up to the seal and so I thanks all you guys for chiming in and letting me know
