Pros vs Cons for Stack Exhaust on 7.3LI

I thought it would be a "Hoot" putting these on my '97 F-250 Diesel. My ex son-in-law from MO always told me I'd be a great "red neck" The looks appeal to me more than the sound. I would want the sound a wee bit louder than the stock with maybe some whistle sound from the turbo. I don't want any problems getting an annual Inspection Sticker. I live in Massachusetts but don't know anyone who has Stacks. If anybody has any experience with this type of exhaust system on their "97 F-250 7.3L I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks,
Tom from Mass

Pro's: None that I can think of...
Con's: Loss of bed space, excess heat against the cab and in the bed, loud, fill with water in the rain if they go strait up and most of all HIDEOUS... I don't think there is anything a bad looking as a pickup with stacks... I'm sure I'm forgetting something... Did I mention they look HIDEOUS?

I had a neighbor who when he got home would put 5 gallon buckets on top of his stacks and well...he was a "red neck" as you said. If that's the look you're going for and don't need all your bed space then go for it. I have only seen one Ford with stacks but lots of Chevys and Dodges. Hmm...makes me wonder

it all depends on how you do it.
i had stacks on my 88 since it was 3 weeks old.
from the front you don't even see them unless i am standing on it and it is smoking.

Go for it. But you would not be able to use your bed as much due to loss of bed space.

It always seems to appear much bigger than it really is but if you only lose 5 square inches in each corner then go for it

You forgot about all the black junk all over the cab. The guys at the exhaust shop will hate you and you ruin a perfectly good bed.

Personally I think it makes it look like a beast which is good so long as you keep your truck clean
The guys at the shop would not mind either

Father in law is a shop manager. Trust me, they hate doing them. It's a giant pain in the ***.

Lotta guys have stacks here. They even put single stacks on 4.9's! Some look really nice but most are gaudy overkill. Look around at a bunch of trucks and plan carefully. TJC did a great job on his.

the only pro i see out of them, and ive seen alot of them livin in wyoming for a while, is if you do major off roading. They are nice for off roading cuz you wont suck water or mud in your exhaust. other than that, if you want a little louder, id say magnaflow super 44's. if you want a little performance while your there, true dual it. never been happier with the sound of mine since i dualed it with the super 44's. (2.5 inch in n out if you got curious enough to try.) youll need to get an adapter and new piping if ya wanna give it a try.

i think stacks look good... if properly done, for example they look stupid on newer trucks, and most people put way to huge of ones one there, a 3 or 4 inch stack looks good to me but anything bigger than about 5 inch on a regular truck looks way out of proportion
