Well I figured I'd post up some updates here and let you guys know how Ruby is doing on the first leg and after. First, the name is from my wife as of today. She loves this truck! So, me, her, our 2 year old, and the dachshund all completed the first day. Comfort is fantastic and driver fatigue is very minimal. It is running extremely well, but the best part...MPG GAIN!! The first tank netted 17.3 mpg, hand calculated. The second run has only used the rear so far but has netted 17.9!! This has been keeping it at 65-70 with cruise and no AC. The weather has been so perfect. We have only needed the vent. It runs consistently around the R and has great power. Anyway, more tomorrow. Oh, no fuel leaks and a dry valley after 730 miles of running. No complaints.
Good deal Byron! Sounds like you are having a good trip. You guys be safe!...........love the name by the way
Thanks Bill! I couldn't be happier with the results of the work I put in and the truck. I'll let my wife know you like the name. She is pretty clever that way. Man, the weather today was off the planet! Clear blue skies, 60s, and very little wind. The scenery at sunset in New Mexico was prett ydarn cool.

We will be in the DFW area, but namely Waxahachie, Plano, McKinney, and Fort Worth. My wife has family in all of those places, so hence the reason for being all over. Wish we had family in the Hill Country. WE love it down there.

Thanks Richard! We passed through today, watched some F-16s we spotted and went on our way. We are kind of aviation nerds.
We'll be back through there on the way back to California in 12 days. Thanks so much for the offer! Much appreciated.

you should really stop at the pima air and space museum... one of the best collections in the country. and if you go during the week you can get the DM Boneyard tour.
Also, the Titan Missile Museum is absolutely awesome (be sure to get tickets well in advance).
So far nothing real amazing to report other than continued good mileage and a good trip. I am sold that this is probably the best mid to late 90s diesel on the road! Ruby just keeps working hard and running great. I am not sure this is really hard work for her though.
Good to hear she's running good Byron! I got mine torn into about a 1000 pieces at the moment. Mostly waiting for parts now. Doing injector I rings.
Hope your trip is going good! And yes these truck are a great way to travel. It's one of the first vehicles I drove that my back didn't ache after driving all day.
