On that model, pull the headlight switch, and look for signs of heat.
Back then, all the juice for the lights ran through the switch, and it was too much for it. Install relays under the hood, so that the dash switch only trips the relays, and the lights are powered from the batteries.
Also, if you want better light output, you can rewire the high beam switch so that the low beams stay on when you activate the high beams. It makes a noticeable difference.
Also, if you're plowing snow, that means salt. Check your grounds. ALL OF THEM.
