A friend of mine got a speeding ticket in his dads car and he ask me what would happend to the insurance on his dads car and i tolf him i have no idea.
Does the insurance on his car go up or the insurance on his dads car goes up?
He also ask me does he have untill augest 15 to pay the 75$ ticket cause thats the date it says on his ticket for court but he doesnt have to go.
Since i didn't have the answers to his questions i thought i would ask you guys.
if your friend still lives in his fathers home, or is covered on the insurance policy as an extra driver, the insurance will probably go up, but not too much. sometimes they dont raise it on a first ticket, or sometimes they do. depends on the insurance company itself.
If your friend is on the father's policy as a driver, the father's insurance goes up. If your friend has his own car and insurance, his own policy will go up. If your friend is on both insurance policies (likely) they both go up. You can not argue against charging only one insurance policy because they will say he proved he is a risk that drives the car (likely the most expensive one now).
Insurance companies raise the premiums any chance they get if given the slightest reason. It's not usually a small increase either.
Does Wisconsin have a program where your friend can go to driving school to keep the points off his license. If so, that would be the thing to do because then the insurance company shouldn't raise the rates. It's based on points on your license.
I'm not sure, but I don't think it will not affect his dad's rates since the insurance company doesn't have to pay anything out.
In SC for good drivers with Safe Drivers discounts you would go up about $300.00 per year for at least three years, if you didn't get another ticket in that time period. You could get the discount back in three more years after you sat in the corner. All totaled it would only be about $1500. because it was your first time.
Welcome to the real world. Stay away from SC.

I would think he would want to pay it before his court date. If he pays it right before his court date, he better go to the court and pay it, don't mail it. Make sure he gets a recpit, nothing like getting a warrant for failure to appear. But all that depends on what the laws are where he got the ticket.
hey id go to court ( i had to 4times ) and speak to the judge, saynot guilty, speak o the public prosecuter then, they are usually pretty col at changing the speeding ticket to like, noise pollution, then it doesnt go on the record, for a few dollars more. after all, the only reason they give out tickets is to get your money. or thats just howit seems. i had a few speeding tickets dropped to other things, it cost me an extra 50-70 bucks but in the long run it pays off, stayed off my record. i think the prosecuters are usually the people to talk to. tell him to dress nice. i use to wear my old work uniform, i was in and out of court with no poblems.
Make a point of talking to the DA or Asst. DA BEFORE the court date. I have had a few tickets reduced by doing this. The last one was 76 in a 55 reduced to "failure to obey the rules of the road" a no point non-moving violation. The fine + court surcharge totaled $ 55.00 , a lot less than the original ticket would have been. My insurance never changed.
Just go talk to the DA and plead your case. You would be surprised how easy it is.
If the fine is not paid a suspsension of registration notice goes out - I'd think Aug 16 would be the drop dead date.
Attorneys can make speeding tickets go away I don't know how but they do it ..
In Illinois you have till the date on the ticket to pay the fine. unless you plan on pleading not guilty then you have to show up for court. If you just plan on pleading guilty and mailing it in then you should do so atleast 10 days before the court date. They usually mail you a receipt in about a week. Just make sure you know what the court date is. the last ticket I got the state police officer tole me I hade 90 days to pay it off. Never bothered to look at the ticket, just the other day I got a letter in the mail saying that I had missed my court date. He told me 90 days and got a court date for about 30 days after the date of ticket. Now I have about 2 weeks to take care of it or I lose my license.
Teach me to believe what a cop says. Should have looked myself.
All the ticket that I have ever seen have a "pay by this date or the fine will double" date written on them somewhere. This usually well before the court date. Usually like 2 weeks from the date of the ticket.
When I first got my liscence, i got a 72 in a 55 in my moms explorer- and of all places, in front of the state patrol office (he was in the suicide lane about to go to his office and eat lunch), and when I got my truck, the ticket stayed on my moms explorer.
