I have a 1975 ford maverick 5L in my 1984 rx7. I have it running and stuff but i cannot seem to make the tachometer work. The duraspark 2 module has a green wire that is supposed to connect to coil negative green wire. I connect it and the car will run. When i disconnect it the car will no longer run. So as per the duraspark 2 diagram found at the bottom of this thread:
The tach is supposed to connect to the coil neg also. So if i take the tach signal wire and splice it into the connected green ignition wire that connects the module to the coil -, the car wont run. So i have no idea how to make the tach work with this ignition system. Does anyone have any ideas?
The GREEN wire from the ignition module AND the tach input both connect to the negative terminal of the coil, as shown in GFW's diagram. The tach has no affect on the ignition system.
Ahh so they all connect together. When i did this is spliced the tach signal into the connected green wire which connected the neg coil to the green module. It would not fire when it was connected. Disconnect the splice and it would run. I am going to go out there and look again this weekend, its possible i have the wrong tach signal but doubtful.
