Hello all, yesterday on my way to work I was going down hill aprx 60 steep enough grade to where I didn't have to put any load on, got to the bottom and pressed slightly on pedal and started to lose speed and the motor started running rough, pulled over and it hardly wanted to run and had trouble moving, after work replaced cps, did same thing loped when started, brand new glow plugs and gaskets, so today I replaced gaskets and wiring and now it wont even start, while cranking it puts out plenty of fuel smoke, Any help or ideas??? Thanks motor has 150xxx

is your fuel bowl full? could possibly be a weak fuel pump? have you checked your pressure at your schrader valve on the fuel bowl?
Got the cps from AutoZone but ordered one from the dealer, might sound ridiculous but what is the ipr? Thanks for responses
IPR: Injection Pressure Regulator
Output; The PCM controls the high pressure oil system by varying the duty cycle of the IPR.
The IPR controls the oil bypass circuit of the high pressure pump. 0%=full return to sump
(open valve), 100%=full flow to injectors (closed valve). The PCM monitors the system with the
ICP input. The PCM can control fuel delivery to the injectors by increasing the IPR duty cycle
which increases fule pressure through the injector nozzles. PID: IPR (% of duty cycle), MFDES
Mass Fuel Desired an internal PCM calculation based on load demand (MG)
There's a sticky at the top of the board with links to things like I copied above. Lots of helpful info to browse around.
Seems odd you would have lots of fuel smoke if it was fuel related but definitely check the valve at the rails. Most on here wouldn't use an Autozone cps. You really need one from IH or Ford. Keep an extra in the glovebox! Sounds more like that than fuel.
Well the smoke smelt kind of funny but I would think it would set off a code or a engine light for the valve, but I've always dealt with the idi 7.3 so I don't know to much about this motor thanks again for the responces

So after replacing gaskets and wiring you get absolutely no start? How deep did you go when you say replaced wiring? Just under valve cover harnesses or...??? I would check all your connections to the valve covers and under them to make sure all your injector connections are solid..but i would be curious to hear your fuel pressure as your problem before the absolute no start sounds kinda like a fuek problem to me..but
I'd check wiring harness to fuel filter canister might be shorting out the fuel heater. Also check IPR wiring/plug and the tin nut in back of IPR to ensure its snug.
