Hi - I am a new member to this forum but not a stranger to vintage car building. I live in Pa. and I am 72 years old. In the past I have built a 41 ford coupe rod a 52 chevy sedan rod and I just finished a 37 chevy coupe rod. I do everything except final bodywork and final paint. I started when I was 16 years old with 216 and 235 chevy engine work. I still have the 37 but sold the others. I finished the 37 about 18 months ago and have been looking for a vintage original ford 1/2 ton truck ever since. For a while I thought everything out there was turned into a rod but guess what I located what I was looking for. I found a 40 ford 1/2 ton pickup that has been stored for 30 some years. It is a basket case. I found an add on craigslist about 300 miles from me with no pictures only a description saying it was dismantled. I talked to the owner and took a 6 hour ride to see the truck based on what he told me. No radiator, no bed, no gas tank, but everything else seems to be there. I would rate the condition at a 9 out of 10. He was asking $5000.00 and I jumped on it. I know how lucky I am to find this and I am planning to restore it back to original. I will be asking questions. Rich
I have been a lurking member for a while - waiting for the ability to get my F150 and that came last month. '13 XLT, reg cab, long bed, 3.7, Oxford White. Don't need a back seat and the design gives me plenty of storage behind the seat. Loving the upgrade from my XL Ranger!
