A/c unit clicking

Recently bought a 91 f250 4x4 460 turned the air on and after a few min running the ac unit clicks. The front of the unit stops turning and makes a clicking sound. Then starts to spin again. Any ideas? Air blows kinda cold

The clutch hub is supposed to "click" when it engages and disengages. Some are louder than others.

Now, it it's "clicking" at any other time or if the clutch is short-cycling, then you've got an issue that needs to be addressed. You'll need to make more observations and report as clearly as possible what is happening.

depends on how often it is cycling.
it may be fine the way it is, or it may be low on freon.

To me that looks like its short cycling, low refrigerant charge the typical reason.

depends on how long it has been since it was last charged.
all systems leak a little bit.
my 88 was topped off in 01, it needs some again.my 99 crown vic needs to be recharged every 3 years, my 02 needs a can every 2 years.
