Has anyone ever had their seatbelt buckle break? I cannot insert the tab to lock the seatbelt. I checked with my local dealer a new buckle assembly is just under $200, and another 90 to have installed.

I would have thought on restraints, especially if required by law, they would be a little more reasonable.

I can find the part for $130 on line, but has anyone tried to replace theirs? Is it hard to do?

I've had a penny fall in them and stop the seat belt for sliding in them. I had to take a small screw driver and get behind penny and work it out. was a bit of a pain to get it up and out, but well worth it in price.

 

This would be my guess. I have never seen a modern seatbelt fail except in a case like this. I had a friend whose rear seat wouldn't buckle and it turned out his kid had been sticking things in it.

 

Nothing stuck in it at all, it is broken. I ordered a used one on Ebay for $85 and installed it yesterday. Everything is OK now.
