I've had both....2011 FX 4 SCrew with Ecoboost and now a 2013 FX 4 Screw with the 5.0. Loved the Ecoboost! It really shines when towing. But, I only towed 3-4 times a year....the rest of the time, I missed the V8 rumble...the Ecoboost is whisper quiet. So, this year I picked up 5.0....love it too. Put a Roush exhaust on it and now have the sound I want. My real life MPG is showing that the Ecoboost only beat the 5.0 by 1 MPG average....nearly identical. The 5.0 handled the towing I do just fine...for the few times I need it each year. Both excellent engines and I would not hesitate to have an F 150 with either one.....but if towing is your thing, the Ecoboost is going to be the ticket.

Plus. If my memory serves me right the ecoboost cost about $1500 more over the 5.0.
First of all don't order the truck. Find one on the dealers lot that comes closest to what you want. Also drive several of them because if you notice on this forum their are a lot of people that are having vibration problems with their trucks.
You didn't say how much your trailer weighed when loaded but a Supercrew with a Ecoboost with 3.55 rear end 4x4 will haul 9600#. In 4x2 form it will haul 9800#
A Supercrew with a 5.0 with 3.55 4x4 is rated at 7700# and a 4x2 is rated at 8000#
With 3.73 rear end you boost towing capacity to 4x4 9300# and a 4x2 is 9400#
Go with the 5.0 it doesn't have the stalling problem that the Ecoboost has in high humidity climates and it gets better fuel mileage. I have a 2012 5.0 with 3.55 rear end and it gets 19 mpg in town and 22 mpg on the highway. I have not connected a trailer to the truck so I don't know what that mileage would be.
Good luck in your hunt.
I'm not a big turbo fan (worked at Garrett for 20 years) and I do not like the way the California dealers are cramming the V6 down our throats. Most 150's (80%+) at the dealers around here are V6 Turbo. Just kinda rub's me the wrong way.
What way are you going? I am still 70/30... 70 5.0 and the 30 ecoboost as far as my needs.
Rollin in my 5.0
With my 4x4 window's down so my hair can blow
The girlies on standby
Waving just to say hi
Did you stop?
No, I just 4x4 on by......5.0 5.0 baby..............LOL!
Getting ready to pull the trigger this weekend.
Just wanted to say Thank You to all of you folks that have helped me out.
Will tell you what I got after I get it, Thanks again.

I had to Lol at your IMO, very optimistic in town 19 mpg claim with you're 5.0L. I'm not denying your 22 hwy claim, I had an '11, 5.0, XLT, Scab, 2wd with 3.55 gears. In town was an honest 13-14 mpg's (My 157" , 3.73 EcoBoost is 11.4-12 in town how I use it), 22 was doable hwy with my '11, 5.0 but you had to set cruise at 65-68 and the road better be board flat.
There is not a 1/2 truck built by any manufacture (Ram EcoDiesel aside) that will get 19 mpg's in town. One of my old company trucks 2011, Ranger, Scab, 2wd, with 2.3 and A/T with a 4.10 would get about 18/19 in town and 28 hwy, actually hit 30 once (cruise on, flat hwy etc..)
At present I have a 2013 Jeep Unlimited Rubicon. Sticker said 19 Highway. I did not buy it for gas mileage but I did get 19 mpg at 52 mph on the freeway along with about a dozen people wanting to shoot me (and I was in the far right lane)....LOL. The second you go over 52 mph it's all down hill on that 19 mpg.
We're going to have some real heated discussions next year zkncd the 3.7 and 6.2 are gone. In are the 3.5 and 2.7 Eco. The mpg's will be similar on both engines; the pulling power is another argument.
While there will be no 3.7L V6, the new F150 will be getting its close cousin the non-turbo 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 that currently sees service in the Explorer, Flex, and a few others. Performance is going to be nearly identical to the outgoing 3.7, so I don't see much of a change there.
Those insistent on a high displacement V8 will most likely to to the competition who still offers such thirsty engines. I don't think it's a wise move though, the boosted V6es have acquitted themselves nicely in the longevity and towing power areas.

You must have a very light foot, not many hills, lights and or stop-go traffic. I have a slightly hilly, but low traffic without stoplights or signs "town" ride to work and am lucky to get 16-17 MPG (winter fuel currently). Also a 5.0 with 3.55s. That is in 5th and 6th gear around 1200RPM the whole ride in.
I have seen 21 MPG highway once, set the cruise control for 60, just to see what it could to. My anxiety was through the roof getting passed by everyone thought.

My dealer told me yesterday that he just serviced a 2011 Eco truck with 110k on the clock. Coolant, plugs, oil, belts and that's it.
