Changing Fuel Filter???

Yes gas will come pouring out so get that bucket ready !
Make sure that the fuel system is relived of pressure by letting the truck sit for a few hours or over night before you remove the filter or you are going to get soaked with gasoline!

Changing Fuel Filter???

relieve the fuel pressure by locating the schraeder valve. Looks like a tire valve. On 97 4.6, the valve is near the fuel rail, passenger side, about 3 spark plugs from the front of the truck. put a rag under the valve to catch the release. Buy a fuel filter release tool. You can get them in plastic or metal. Metal ones are what you want, cost only about $6. Wear safety glasses when you unhook the fuel filter. obviously, no smoking, etc. good luck. i havent changed fuel filter on a f250 but probably same setup as my 97.

Changing Fuel Filter???

Or you can pull the fuse to the fuel pump relay and crank the engine. Fuel pressure relieved. Open the gas cap. too.
