Discount on Fuel...
I have shopped at Von's for years.
My girlfriend has also..
For every $100 you spend on anything in the store food, beer, what ever..
you get one point for being a Von's club member.
I didn't know this until last month and i have over 10 points.
If you are a member of the Vons club, you get 20 cents off every gallon of any grade of fuel at Chevron up to 25 Gallons for each point. Chevron has been the lowest on diesel around there lately at $3.89
So i have been paying $3.69 for diesel.. I still have 8 point's to use

I use it all the time. Be careful, those points vanish at the end of the month. Also, if you can find a Vons gas station with diesel, there is no limit of savings if you have the points (ie, 8 points is 80 cents off per gallon).
Ralphs has a similar program with Shell.
You can also find other programs across the country doing other things. Shell has some other deals (Savemart for example) with out the 20c/gal max.
The Fuel Rewards Network from Shell is pretty great too. Lets you earn rewards from all sorts of places and then you have unlimited rewards. Many people end up paying 0.01/gal on fuel. The trick is to buy VISA gift cards at the store. You get points for that (at Vons its 3 points per dollar on gift cards.. three times that of groceries) then use the gift cards like cash. This doesnt work well with the vons/shell program because of the 20 cent maximum, but other programs with out the maximum savings you use this method to pay virtually nothing for fuel.
