Would a good polish and anodize job come close to stock? And Im with you on the chrome. Good shops are hard to find.
So far I have dealt with two anodizing shops. Neither one was worth a darn. The first one made the grille look like it had spots all over it. The second shop did not have a tank big enough, even though they said they did. The grille had a visible line down the center where it was plain to see they did one end first then the other. The anodize flaked off after six months.
I now polish and seal my grilles. A company I started dealing with last year has a sealing solution that lasts up to a year and so far I am very pleased with their product. After a good polish I clean the grille the polish again this time by hand once done I seal it with sealer and it looks great.
Isn't there a chrome shop somewhere down in the Fresno area? A person I know who builds custom motorcycles sends his stuff down there for chroming. That was last said to me about 5 years ago. I would imagine building custom bikes, at custom bucks, would mean good chrome for the money.
