Just found this site and joined up a few days ago. Last fall I ran across a 1947 C.O.E. Dump Truck and just had to have it. C.O.E.'s of any make have always been my passion but this being a Ford made it all the better for me.
It's a 101" wheelbase with a single speed rear axle, 4 speed transmission, flat head V8, 52,000 on the odometer, 8 foot dump box with a St. Paul hoist.
Previous owner told me it was a coal delivery truck.
I made the deal and a buddy and I went to where it was stored ( about 35 miles from my place ) got it running and I drove it home. Then everyday life took over and I haven't been able to do anything on it until now.
First on the list is pulling the behind the seat fuel tank and having it coated, We got it to my place with a lawn tractor gas tank tied in place on the passenger seat and a temp fuel line run to the carb gravity fed because the fuel pump needs work.
Any body on here know of a source for windshield wiper blades for these old beasts?
I sure had fun looking through the old posts on here and am amazed at the amount of knowledge stored in them!
Thanks Tom, I like pics also but being a not very tech savvy old guy I have to wait for my tech support staff (daughter) to stop over. Is there a minimum post count before I can do pictures?
The truck sounds Awesome! I use outboard motor 6 gallon tanks strapped to the roof. Seems we have similar thoughts. I like the squeeze ball to feed the carb when necessary....
there is a post count you need to meet to use the FTE picture uploader, but i am not smart enough to figure out how to use it after being here close to 10 years.
i use photobucket to do pictures. i load them there, then just copy the image code and paste it here.
