Been thinking about some changes to my '84,like removing the clunky rear bumper and going with the Bronco setup. There seems to be as many thoughts on what the correct brackets are..as there are about bucket seat tracks !! I have access to a '79 bumper and brackets..and..86F150six has suggested trying them..AFTER cutting and lengthening the stock Bronco brackets. That is not a problem..BUT..does anyone know for SURE what brackets, if any, interchange to use the Bronco ..(and some early F-100s,etc)bumper ?
Additional...Bronco frames up to 1979 are 32 inches wide in rear. Starting in '80, the width increased to 37 1/2. SO..New bumpers are no problem. Seems the question is...Can the earlier Bronco brackets be used on the '84 frame ?..OR..???
I'm still researching..I'll post what I find out...If anyone with the Bronco bumper on an F-150 would snap and post a picture of the brackets...PROBLEM SOLVED !!!!
Here is what I have found..info. from Bronco Graveyard..and Driven Auto , and others..To mount the NON-STEP chrome bumper...You will need..Either the brackets that came with the bumper...That everyone says are not available...OR Use rear brackets from 1980-86 BRONCO..and even then..the brackets will bolt directly to the bumper..but will still have to be modified to bolt to the frame...I'm going to try it..If anyone has a junker Bronco around..I'll be glad to buy the brackets. I'll post on the Bronco Forum too...jv..
