Good Weather

Hello and good afternoon Missourians!

Beginning Friday we have 7 straight days of 40's high and 30's overnight.

Now we can get some work done on the projects.

Enjoy the weather.

Hello Rich.

Yes I must get on with the work on the 87 as I am so far behind but this is on me as I procrastinated.

However, I am waiting on some fasteners from Summit.

Moreover, I need to find a stud and nut for my valve cover. Perhaps you know the size? I will probably go to the boneyard for this.

You take care and Godspeed!

Boon

Any thing related to a 1980 or newer definitively not, 1979 and older definitively maybe. Shoot that, Alan's way.

Well i thought i had a leaky radiator.
Took her for a spin today and nothing?
What gives? the other day when we had that very cold morning, the whole engine bay was covered in coolant, or so i thought.
Now its acting like its fine..... Crazy.

Maybe your cap somehow let a big air bubble and some coolant get out and the fan and wind spread is all over?

I was wondering if my upper hose was leaking again.
For some stupid reason, that thing from time to time will leak.
But with the amount of coolant everywhere, I thought for sure it was the radiator.

I'll keep an eye on it and see, i found out yesterday Lebanon has a radiator shop, so if all else fails i will pay him a visit.

Nope. I think this demonstration over exaggerates the issue. Properly maintained cooling systems have little trouble leaking. There's less clamping power at 0 degrees, but how much pressure is in the system when it's 0 degrees? ...that's right. Zero PSI. As the coolant heats up, so does the metal and the hoses, so the clamps become effective again. There's a VERY narrow window when pressure could climb faster than temperature does. This is where proper maintenance comes in. A coolant recovery system will "top off" the radiator for you if you keep it in good shape with enough coolant in it.

In any case, I'm glad you found your problem. I've never used, ...or needed to use those types of clamps.

For some reason my hose clamps keep loosing up.
So i bought a new cap, upper hose, and clamps, hopefully this stops the cold weather leaks.
