tire question!

So on my 59 with CV front suspension, id like to go bigger in the rear then 255/55/18.... which is about a 29" rear tire.... I wont buy anything but goodyears either. So anyone know what size tire id be looking for to get something like a 31-33 somewhere in there rear tire for a 18x9" rear wheel? Looking for a sport performance style tire.

I don't like foreign tires because I like my $$$ staying here in America so that's why ive always been a goodyear guy. But.... If goodyear doesn't make a tire like that id settle possibly for a different brand...

I was just getting ready to ask the same type question, but I think I can help with yours. I currently have 15x8" rims, and have 31x10.50x15 tires with plenty of room. Many years ago my dad had a 33x12.50x16 on the back & they were close, but never rubbed. Maybe you can convert those numbers to 18" rims.

I am currently looking for a 32x11.50.15 non-AT tread, since I am having severe traction problems. That seems to be the only thing close to a 9" wide tread I can find.

Hmm ill try that. But goodyears web page is goofy...lol It drives me nuts!

If you don't care if you have a offroad tire, the goodyear duratracs are amazing in the rain and snow and ive never had any traction or slipping and sliding issues with them. Everyone in my family has them on their trucks

Hmm rust found these. Idk if they would be any good for a non burn out on a 1/8 mile course here in town....

My traction problem is not due to rain etc, its because I put in an obnoxiously powerful motor in it. Short of a posi, I may need to look for a few (dozen!) sandbags.

I tried to look at the goodyears, but found the webpage flaky like you did. I need to stop by the dealer.

Ah I see. Well these tires held up to the 460 in our 96 f350, the V10 in our 04 excursion, the 428 in my 74 f250, and the 400 in my 79 bronco. No slippage issues! They are great tires ad even though the tread looks super chunky I guess, mine still look new and I have 20000 miles on them. Which is awesome! Still has all the pokeys on the side wall as well.
