Well I'd just like to know for future reference if I need to on how to drain the engine coolant on my ranger. From looking it up online I understand all the steps its just I don't know were the drain plug is. I took a picture and assume this might be it...
That is the radiater drain plug. I would take the bottom radiator hose off also. Be sure to use a cleaner/flush chemical also and backflush the heater core.
Well that's good to know just in case I put in too much engine coolant somehow. Cleaning/flushing the radiator sounds like something I'm bound to mess up.
Drain the system with the plug and bottom hose removed.
Reinstall them when empty and add coolant/radiator flush
from any parts store. Read the instructions and ya should be fine.
before draining out the Flush swap the heater hoses around so the
coolant is reversed through the heater. Than again drain the system
as ya first did. Than run a garden hose through the top and flush it.
Them put hose and plug back on and change heater hoses back to normal.
Than fill it with clean water and run it some more like ya did with the Flush
if ya read the institutions on the container. Drain and do this over until
ya get good clean water coming out the bottom hose.
Than put it together and the proper amount of coolant and drive the
wheels off her.
I would wait like 45 minutes at least if it was at operating temp.
An engine generally will get hotter after shutting it down when the
coolant is no longer circulating.
