I dont drive it very nicely.
A built c-6 would be fine. I've seen c-6's handle an amazing amount of power. The rub would be no overdrive and a lockup converter would be nice too for towing.

No overdrive is the whole reason for the swap. That C-6 and I have been through a lot. It's outlasted women and jobs, several engines, I learned how to get stuck with it, broke and fixed it, rebuilt it, punctured it...yes...The more I think about it, the more I think I'll be sleeping next to it after I remove it.

Gets me right here...Excuse me, I'll be needing a few minutes.

It's ok. You won't miss the c6. Plus my opinion is it wouldn't have handled the power anyway. Have a buddy who had one behind a 1st gen cummins out of a dodge (this was in an 80's F-250) & he had a few problems with it & I think ended up ditching it.

I was looking on the Internet trying to figure how much this would cost if I ever got around to doing the swap. I came across a 1992 12v with 250 thousand kilometres on it for $1500. Is that a good price and what would be some good things to look for to tell a 12v is in good condition if its already been pulled.

I also found a 92 automatic transmission and transfer case for $600 the kilometres isn't said. If the KM were a decent amount is that a good price. Also is that a transmission a good one to be using?

I'm just asking for research reasons, I'm trying to get as much info before I seriously consider attempting this.

$1500.00 is not bad for a 92. It would be a good idea to get an engine with the tranny and all of the accessories. Try and stick with 96-97 12v. You can go earlier but stay away from 94 and 95's. The injection pumps had issues. You'll have to do some research on which 12v you want. 89-1997 aren't computerized if you go with a manual tranny. After 97 you get into common rail engines and are a lot more complicated to swap in.

What sort of transmission and transfer case was it? A 92 AOD with a NP203 or whatever someone decided to stick on it may not be the right thing for you, but you could adapt it to the engine if you wanted, regardless of the bell housing pattern it has.

For 600 at a Pick 'n Pull, you can get an ZF5, an NP205 and still have change left over to buy steel door pulls, grab handles, underhood lamp, a radiator fan, relays, an 203 for a doubler (if you could find one) and some comfortable seats. Especially on half price days. Well...around here, anyhow. I'd guess the prices are about the same wherever.

So would the zf5 be the best way to from a price and performance stand point? I'd like to keep the build as simple as possible seeing as this would be the first time I attempted something of this nature. That being said I'd take more power over a few more hours of work.

Thanks for the help

A ZF5 would require an adapter plate to the tune of give or take $500.00. You can get a nv4500 that came with a cummins for the same price by the time you buy a ZF5 as well. Once again, your better off buying a complete engine and tranny package with all of the accessories. They are not hard to find you just have to look.

Swapping

Got a '93 f250 with a 351w and thinking of doing eaither the 4bt or 6bt with a zf5 or T19 tranny. But just wondering, would I need to change out the wiring harness as well. I know I need to update the fuel lines and pump from gas to diesel, just wondering about the wiring.
