Fiberglass Caps
Hi All !
I just bought an 03 F150 4X4, extend cab, long bed, FX4 package to replace my tired 89 F150 4X4.
I have been out looking at caps for the bed and have narrowed the search to either ARE or Jeraco. The ARE looks a little more stylish but, my last cap was a Jeraco and I had no problems for 13 years; minus the fading of the gel-coat.
I am looking for any comments, feedback or suggestions; good, bad or indiffent as to who makes the better cap and why. If this has already been hashed out in the forum, my apologies.

I have a bargain basement ARE cap. The brand is called mpulse. It's withstood a great deal of tree branch scratching in the past 9 months, but the finsh is still looking decent and the gel coat hasn't faded. The hardware looks cheap. The rear door doesn't have great fit and finish to it, and the brake light is mounted to the door and not recessed into the cap (but it works for me).
I guess there a few other manufacturers out in my neck of the woods, but most of the newer caps look to be made by ARE.
Try an internet search of truck caps/canopies/shells and you should come up with a few hits.
