Hi guys, I've used the site a few times for problems with my 04 350 and like the fact that there is a lot of knowledge here. The issue I have now is with my 05 550. I was plowing for 25 hrs or so and decided to close my eyes for a few. I had the truck idleing and after about a hour I was about to get back to plowing and the truck died. When I turn the key nothing happens. I can hear the injectors clicking when I turn the key to on then when I try to start it everything cuts out. I tried the yellow/blue wire thing to the battery and the truck cranked but did not start(key was on) I don't think the fuel pump is coming on when I turn the key. I cleaned the battery terminels and the ground on the drivers side(one on the firewall which was loose, the one from the battery on the frame and the one on the inner fender still nothing. I tried to read codes and the reader tells me it will not connect. You know more than me so I'd love to hear from ya. thanks
Fan clutch short to ground? Have you tried unplugging the fan clutch and re-trying? If that doesn't work, start unplugging sensors one by one, until you restore communication to the PCM.
I did disconnect the fan and still nothing. I did check the fuses and just replaced some for kicks. The starter does not kick in with the key only when I use the blue yellow wire can i get it to crank but won't start
I would say you have a bad sensor backfeeding the pcm not allowing it to communicate. I would do as m-chan68 stated. Start unplugging sensors one at a time until your pcm starts communicating.
I went outside after he said that and unplugged a few and nothing really changed. it seemed when I unplugged the egr valve that it was able to read codes (no codes came up) but would not crank with the key. The only sensor I did not get to is the back pressure sensor. the cold got to me before I could get to it. I forgot to mention earlier that the glow plug light(wait to start) doesn't go out.

Sorry for the double post. Stupid phone. Anyway when your looking at the sensors make sure you look at the wire harness itself and make sure there is no chaffing. Seems to be normally around valve cover studs. Just check it out real good as well.
I check the sensors and the wires and there is no change. I unplugged one at a time and tried turning the key and nothing happened. Any other thoughts on what I can try?
Thanks for the input. The truck is going to the shop tomorrow. I have to say I'm not as impressed with this forum as I thought I would be. Maybe the truck has to be fixed before a lot of input is given and maybe that's why nobody ever says what fixed the issue they had.
There are alot of people just "passing by". And your right very few of them post a conclusion. Dont be one of them please stop back and fill us in. Just to say I had a injector that broke in 2 pieces . It was touching the oil rail and shorting out the pcm. The onky way it would start was after I unplugged the icp. Alothough it did still crank. Usually you get a crank no start. No cranks are not as common.
