Hello all, straight to it. Aside from the typical injector problems and what-not, I was looking for an exhaust leak/hiss and checking all clamps around the turbo, while taking a test drive to see if i took care of the leak/hiss the cold side boot popped off, my bad forgot to clamp it down. I noticed on the intercooler pipe an excessive amount of oil that blew out from the turbo....whats could be the cause of this? I know im probably on the verge of a run away diesel
While on the topic, Im looking to order my injectors soon, I was looking at stage 1 industrial injection from thoroughbred diesel. Would they be ok with a stock turbo, assuming I wont need a new one?
The leak/hiss may be coming from your up pipe. It is not uncommon for the flex joints to fail and leak exhaust in the engine compartment. Look for soot.
Did your truck just have work done recently?
Also, it is normal for the CAC tubes to have oil in them from the crankcase ventilation system. Have you checked your oil level?

Don't worry its not going to run away. Oil in your CAC boots and intercooler is perfectly normal. It's the accumulation of the oil mist that comes from the CCV vent system out of your drivers side valve cover and into the intake. When it travels to the intake it usually heats up there and soaks into the carbon and what little gets into your intake is far less than that engine would need to runaway.
If you're not getting any heavy blue smoke out of your exhaust all the time you're probably ok with not needing a turbo. When turbo seals go out it's usually the exhaust side first because of the high heat. If you want to be safe for sure, pull your downpipe off and feel around for some oil. If there's no oil, you're in the clear.
and like Billbot said, check the bellows on the up-pipes....they're usually the failure points.
Bellows Are Fine, It Was The Exhaust Being Pushed Up To Far Doing A Side Pipe Install, A Far As The BlUe Smoke Plenty Of It From Time To Time. Injectors Make This Truck Into A Giant Vibrator Sometimes, I Changed The Oil And Fuel Filters, Use Schaffer Oil, All That Jazz. Just Can't Get Over The Admit Of Oil That's "Suppose" To Be In The System
Yeah that oil gets in your intercooler too. Gotta think that won't help cool the air very efficiently. The only way to prevent it is to do a CCV mod. There's a couple expensive kits out there but you can put one together for much less on your own. Search the site for more info if you want.
Also that blue smoke doesn't sound good. Definitely check the turbo like nighthawk said.
Still not sure about the injectors, I think you usually get white or black smoke from a failure there.
