I saw a show in augusta at the civic center onec. The arena was so small they had to jump and immediatly hit the brakes. but I was 9 or 10 so i didnt care. How long has it been "fake", BTW? I used to love it when I was a kid, and had models of all of my favorites
I have talked to several drivers who said they had driven for the WCW type races. They all said they were told to let Meents win or face not getting their pay for the show. They also told me how many of the trucks aren't owned by the original owners anymore and that they refused to drive where they aren't allowed to win. Now thats just hearsay, but I have no reason to doubt them.
As for Bigfoot being too slow to keep up with them, that is hardly the case. The promoters of those shows wanted to buy out Bigfoot, as they did Gravedigger and some others. Bigfoot didn't want to sell out, but wanted to continue the competitions as they were...honest and straightforward with real competition. Plus, they saw no future in just going out and seeing how badly they could destroy their truck each show. Thats why Bigfoot and some others have started their own racing circuit, plus gone with some other promoters. Saying Bigfoot is slower than the rest is a total fallacy. The power that truck puts out is totally comparable to any of the trucks running on the "Show and Wreck" circuit. And watching the awsome power displayed by the last two Bigfoot trucks I watched race, dispells the myth of any lack of power. No one was holding back. All in all, the Bigfoot team wants honest and professional racing. If you doubt my veracity, be my guest and email Bigfoot. They happily answer your questions and there are links on their site that explain what is going on between Bigfoot and the "other guys".
Now I may be prejudiced, because I am a diehard Bigfoot fan, but check it out for yourselves.
Its very cool to see such an awsome response to my first thread.
did anyone go to fords 100th cel. in dearborn Mi. big foots display
and monster jams display were there. along with 8 monster truck shows . I had a great time meeting all the drivers .
powerstroke: do you mean bluethunder driven by lyle Handcock and gunslinger driven by scott Harsock? if so, yes they are still racing the 03 season. blue thunder is also driven by Tony Farell.
both were at fords 100th cel. in Dearborn Mi.
I passed the '79 Bigfoot on my way home here to Ohio on July 2nd. I was going east on I-70 through Indiana and he was on a low boy flatbed heading west. I though that was pretty sweet. That was my favorite model of Bigfoot.
Sorry but i have to correct some people the first and second bigfoots were both 74s with 78 grilles, My first Mt show was in 1992 at a local indoor arena a small one at that and i was 8. My dad took me and got me one of those autograph pictured that i still have it is of Blue Zone a 78 ford. I wish i had gotten one of the other Ford Thunder Bolt which i think was a 74 but have never seen anything of it since i would like some info if anybody has some on these trucks.
Bigfoot and a bunch of others have an outdoor curcuit that tours that U.S. and Canada.
I saw bigfoot a couple years ago but to my disappoint he was having electrical problems so he had a hard time racing.
Anyone ever hear of Mainiac(sp?) or Jarisic (sp?) Attack? both of which are fords. I personally know the guy and the body work or jarisic attack is an impressive work of art.
OK, I stand corrected !! ( Bowing down) I didn`t realize all that was involved. What you say, I do believe. I was watching the history channel the other day ( History of monster trucks. ) and they comfirm all that you are talking about. I am heartbroken now and it won`t be the same. I , like most of you, will go for my son`s sake and won`t tell them any different!!
We took our 5 year old to see the monster trucks last year. He couldn't get enough of them. I, for one, got SOO excited, when I heard their motors fire up. I'm one of those type of women that yells or whistles when I hear a beefy motor. Before the events, we took pictures of the trucks. And of course, my son and I have a pic of us next to bigfoot.
Ever since that day, he plays Monster truck madness on my computer, and watches the events on tv. He also likes mud boggin' with mommie!! Whenever I buy a monster truck scale model, it disappears, guess who steals it.
As for me, I would LOVE to do the tough truck competition. Just not with my truck. Give me a truck, and I'll do it!!
tough trucks, ahhhhh go to an auction get a truck for $200 then go and beat the crap out of it then sell it to the wreckers for what you bought it for. Or take a decent running truck (the more beat up the better) lift it, give it a little bit more power and a role cage then go run it till it dies.
I got to see an awsome show this weekend in hagerstown, MD.grave digger, black stallion, gunslinger, maximum destruction, ragin steel, and high roller. tough trucks, quad wars it was a great time.
i used to enjoy goin to the grave digger shop in nc until i went one day and the b*tch slammed the door in my face (literally hit me with the door) 1 hr before stated closing time said she had to be somewhere very rude lost all respect for that place then and there ....................big foot 5 is the greatest monster truck of all time
Monster trucks ARE dumb. I agree that its all staged.....Usually when the monster trucks come to Billings, MT they have the Tuff Truck Competition which is really alot of fun to watch. My husband is into Off-Road racing and sometimes does these competitions. His buddy even jumped the smashed up cars at the one early this year ( in a 63 Ford !!!!).
