Pump Conversion
I have a Lincoln 460 in my 78 F150 that is equipped with the rare but crappy crank mounted power steering pump. I need to swap out this pump, but I am not really sure what new parts I will need. Obviously I will need a belt driven pump and bracket, but will I need to change the timing cover? A portion of the pump sticks inside the timing cover and has the cover seal around it, therefore the hole in the cover around the crank is larger than the crank snout itself. If any of you guys have torn down a 460, is there some sort of spacer than goes on the crank? Or do I need to purchase a new timing cover? Any suggestions would be a great help, especially if one of you has had this pump on a 460.
