I bought my 2004 V10 4X4 over a year ago after looking for a long time. The main purpose I wanted it was to tow my 7000 lb enclosed trailer when I didn't want to use my old motor home. The body and interior were both excellent. I had read a bunch on this forum and others about the wandering problems of the Ex so one of the things I did was to put an anti-sway setup on my WD hitch. My first couple of trips were OK but not as nice a pull as I wanted. I adjusted front air pressure which helped. For my last tow I took the sway control off and it towed great I usually tow about 65 but I kept catching myself easing up to 70 - 75. It was a very pleasant tow. This vehicle has never had anything changed on it except front brakes. I must have lucked out but it tows great, now if I could just get the mpg down a little!!!!
i love the way mine tows.when i moved from oregon to wyoming in june it was 1200 miles.my x and trailer came in at 17400 lbs.no issues and was still getting 10 mpg up hill.
I started towing with the air pressure at the recommended amount on the tires, either 80 or 85. I have since bumped the front down to 45 -50 which helped. I kept the rear tires at the hi pressure. Towing my trailer i get about 9.25 in Louisiana which is flat. I thought that was good. My old motor home gets about 4 and against a head wind the needle just falls from full to empty.
You're absolutely right. Mine is an 86 30ft Holiday Rambler with a 454. I only use it now for races which are multi-day events. The thing tows great if there's no wind. Get a good crosswind and it's white knuckle driving.
