Not getting fuel now!

Ok so finally I got around to getting the timing as close as possible without it running correctly and she fired up. But that is only when priming it. It will get primed start up and die. So obviously it isn't getting fuel. I can hear the fuel pumps (both in tank and fuel rail ones) kick in but I am getting very little fuel if sometimes none out of the fuel rail pressure. What should I do or look for? Relay does kick in also and the inertia switch is set correctly.

She is a 1988 Ford F150 4x4 302 V8 C6 auto transmission dual tank truck.

On a side note to those whom was wondering how the truck will sound with the muffler (walker) it starts up and sounds awesome.

Thanks guys for any help.

Fuel filter or the selector valve on the frame is causing your problem.

Should I try pulling it off before the fuel filter and see if it is getting fuel or just replace both? I can't afford much.

Take the supply fuel lines off as they go into the selector valve one at a time and point them into a bucket. Have someone turn on and off the key a few times and see if the fuel line is pumping out fuel. It should also have about 6psi fuel pressure at that point.

If they both put out fuel then take the fuel line off going into the high pressure pump and point it in a bucket. Do the same thing with the key. If you have fuel coming out of that hose then do the same thing with the fuel line going into the fuel filter.
Note that the line going into the fuel filter will be high pressure fuel up to 95psi into a blocked head.

Brad already put 6 gallons of gas in the truck so I am not out of fuel.
Bill will try that after I try the relay just found out every time I went to start it the relay would start smoking (my brothers just told me) so I have some extra good relays going to replace it and try then see what happens.

It would not be the first time a relay socket went bad (resistive).

But you say you hear the pump running. Which mean the relay is GOOD

CHeck your fuel pressure

I haven't tried it yet but figure it is worth a shot. Going to trace all the way through the truck hopefully today yesterday got busy with our 89 F250 which is now having the same problem (not getting fuel up in the top end).
I may replace the fuel filter on both trucks just for the heck of it to know I have a new one need to find out how much it is first.

Ok so I replaced the fuel filter and relay and still nothing. I still hear both pumps kicking in. But yesterday when I took the line back off the new filter (after the filter towards the engine) I had tons of pressure come out of the line but no fuel. So I traced it back no fuel coming out before the fuel pump on rail nor after the fuel selector valve on the bottom line. I am having troubles getting the top line off though. How do you get to it with the crossmember in the way?

Also my dad says maybe my injectors are clogged since the fuel line had so much pressure. Do y'all think this is correct?

Should I pull a line off before the fuel selector valve and try seeing if anything comes off and which one do I pull for the supply of fuel from my front tank (rear tank doesn't have gas)?

What do you mean you have high pressure in the lines but not much fuel coming out

As of right now I have tons of air pressure but no fuel at all coming out of the lines. That was only that one time too when I took the fuel line off the filter after that normal pressure.

Your dad isn't correct. There's a fuel pressure regulator to prevent that.

If you have air, and no fuel BEFORE the rail mounted pump, you either have a problem with your selector valve or the in-tank pump.
