ok guys, should i be getting continuity between the "s" terminal and the starter lug, or the ground of the solenoid itself? this doesn't seem correct, but i am looking for knowledgeable advise. this test was with the solenoid mounted, and the wires all attached, but with the battery disconnected. thank you for your help.
you should see a few ohms (don't remember exactly) of resistance from the S terminal to the ground...that is the path of current through the internal coil that activates the solenoid.
thank you sir, i am getting no resistance between the S terminal, and the ground of the solenoid itself, and between the S terminal and the starter lug. and this is a "brand new" solenoid???? go figure?
Thank you for the reply. I figured it out today. It was as I thought, something SIMPLE, just a matter of finding it. The new wiring harness manual had me connecting the white wire from the ignition switch to the "S" terminal on the solenoid, which after studying two wiring schematics, showed that that wire went directly to the ignition control module. I simply placed that wire to it's correct location, and what do you know? It works as it should. Thank everyone for their help.
