05 EXPY 5.4 Running Rough
Good Afternoon All,
I've got an 05, 5.4L Expy XLT. I changed the plugs at 100K. I've put 6,000 on the clock since then. I recently had two codes pop up. 0303 and 0316, misfire cylinder 3, and multiple misfires <1000 rpm. I had a coil on hand (Borg-Warner brand), so I changed the coil first. Seemed to help for a brief period, but the codes came back. I then changed the plug (Autolite). It didn't look bad, but again, I had one on hand, so I changed it anyway. It ran well for about 150 miles but both codes came back. This morning, I moved the new coil and plug to cylinder 1 and vice versa with the gear from cylinder 1. The engine is still not running well, but I've got zero active codes. It stumbles while stopped, in gear (like at a red light or stop sign) and while in OD at low revs most severely. It is intermittent, or seems to be. It will go a few minutes and be fine, but then come back with a vengeance. When the engine is stumbling while driving, if I put my foot in it a little more, it seems to get better when the tranny downshifts. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks all! Cheers

Well, I was not aware that the cylinder numbering convention was different from EVERY OTHER engine on the planet. Turns out I've been working on the wrong cylinder.
